Sesatha organization and Aloe Nature Institute are jointly implementing an aloe vera cultivation and marketing project these days. Several leaders selected from the regional organizations of the United Nations have been deployed to work with the Aloe Nature Institute and it is expected that they will expand this project. Aloe Nature first conducted a program to introduce the project followed by several awareness sessions.
After that, the Aloe Nature Institute organized the opportunity for these officials to observe a place where this aloe vara cultivation is successfully carried out in the Suriyawewa area. There, a wide discussion program was conducted including how to cultivate aloe vera and the market opportunities, the raw materials prepared by export aloe vera, related self-employment etc. After that, as a first step, the people identified as these leaders started selling the plants by informing the members of the community root organizations as well as the people of the area for aloe vera cultivation. It has been seen that the people of the area are interested in cultivating aloe vera through this campaign in the gardens of houses, small spaces and uncultivated lands. Through this business, the people of the area can earn an additional source of income and the cost of production is also very low and the possibility of creating a large market for aloe vera in the future are the reasons that have been brought to the attention of the Institute.
